We were asked to write a blog about how we were called to this mission trip.
Here is my story...
I have wanted to go to Africa as long as I can remember. Even as a little girl, I can recall having a strong
and compelling desire to go to Africa. Not just to go, but to serve and aid with need in Africa.
Since childhood, my plans and ideas about going have changed slightly as I learned more about the more specific areas of the
country and types of service, and more importantly, as I established a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Yet, with all that, the desire to go still remains the same, and is even stronger now. I can only explain it as an entirely
God-given feeling and motivating factor in my life and plans.
During November of 2008, I was given the wonderful opportunity to build houses for the homeless and poor
in Mexico for a ministry group that specializes in Mexico mission opportunities. While I worked among my friends
and family of the church, we were able to show Christ through not only our hard work and desire to give a home to a family
but also through sharing God's word and awesome love. As the trip neared an end, I knew that this mission
experience would only be the beginning, that God had more in store for me in the area of missions.
Since then, through a great friend (who also has been called to the mission field and will be going with us),
God has shown me the Adventures group, and after acceptance, some excited screaming, and a thankful prayer I am
going through the steps to prepare myself to finally get to the destination God has for so long called me to. I am so excited for the
things God is going to do and I can't wait to go!
So, there's my story, but I won't say the end, because it's not even close to the end J
