Hi everyone! My name is Rachel Dobbe. First, can I just say that God is SO GOOD – I cannot believe this trip is now a reality! I am SO looking forward to it and am praying for opened eyes and a heart to serve. As I have become more obedient in my faith I have strove to follow God’s will for my life. I’m willing to be a servant of God; there is no doubt in my mind that He has called me to work for Him. I recently read this quote, “If your dream does not involve changing the course of somebody’s eternal destiny, then your dream is too small.” I fully believe this and my hope is that God will use us on this mission and in the future for His glory. I went through a season in my life of much rebellion, but God faithfully and loving me brought me back. I understood for the first time what it meant to be redeemed by His blood – that I was bought with a price, that my life was not my own, and that Jesus didn’t just want to be my Savior, but the Lord of my life and the lover of my soul. And that’s when everything changed for me. What else…herbal tea is my favorite, I love Nickel Creek and other amazing bluegrass music, and I love studying God’s Word – it is alive and deep and anything but tame. I can’t wait to spend an amazing two months serving alongside you all! πŸ™‚

  2. Ohhh bluegrass is awesome! I went through kind of the same stage at one point in my life as well. There is no doubt in my mind that God uses different people in our lives for a reason to bring us back to focus on Him! Go God!

  4. I must say your zeal for the Lord is encouraging. It’s nice to ‘hear’ you talk like that. The past is gone.

“The past can be a textbook, but it can’t be your standard of reflection.”

Whatever happened is something to learn from. It may have been difficult but it’s part of the journey and we all must overcome. How we do that and with what outlook is a personal decision. Keep growing, sister.

Kenya … what an opportunity and experience. Your eyes will be opened in ways you don’t like. Why? What you want and what you need aren’t always the same. Open up, look up, never give up.
