We were asked to write a blog about our expectations for our trip to Kenya.

This trip has been a dream of mine for years, and as such it comes with many expectations. First and foremost I expect to see God glorified. He is the reason I am alive and free, and the reason I go. I want to see His love spread through the nation.

I just spent a week in Mexico being used by our creator to spread His life. It was an incredible time of being still before the Lord and listening to what He had to say. God, his love, and grace,  became so overwhelming real to me during this week, and this helped me to form some of my expectations for the Kenya trip.

Acts 4:29-30 is a prayer from the early church. They prayed to God that he would ‘enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness, stretch out your hand to heal and perform miraculous signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus’ God heard them and did what they asked. As I pray this prayer for our team, I expect to see just that. His children step up and out in faith, and hearts to be changed, as He empowers us to do his work. I also expect to see our team come together with hearts united because we are all serving the greatest king, Jesus.

Personally, I expect to get dirty, be used by God, be tired sometimes, be human, have joy, be filled with the spirit, preach the word, meet needs, get to know people, be poured out, learn, live, laugh, love. Really there are so many things that I expect to see, do, and hear that I could spend hours writing about it all and still not cover it all. To say I expect to be poured out in service to my King, and see Him at work would sum it up the best. So thats what I expect, with much excitement and joy in my heart, I look forward to the end of these next 20 weeks.  🙂
