We were asked to write a blog about how we felt before leaving on this mission trip. Here is what I am expecting…

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.
See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.”
-Isaiah 43:18,19

I am embarking on this journey to Kenya for many reasons. Mainly, it’s an opportunity to share God’s love through service to the ends of the earth, literally. And frankly, I’m tired of living comfortably. I really desire to know what it’s like to really have nothing, so that Christ may become everything.

My hope is that the Lord will manifest Himself in ways we’ve only read about–that He will deepen our faith and will teach us to hear His voice and act in obedience to it. I want to see Him blow us away.

I also have great expectations for the unity between me, my team, and the people that have chosen to be apart of His ministry by partnering with us prayerfully and financially.

My expectations probably seem somewhat vague, but really, I can have all these expectations, but the reality is God has plans of His own. I know that the work we do in Kenya is far more important than the things I anticipate. I just have faith that He will do the new thing in its entirety, and He will do it all for His glory.

“I see a generation rising up to take their place

With selfless faith, with selfless faith.

I see a near revival, starting as we pray and seek,

We’re on our knees, we’re on our knees.”
-Hillsong United- “Hosana”

One response to “Expectations”

  1. Vague expectations are the best ones. They allow the spirit to move.

Also, Hosanna is one of my favorite songs by Hillsong 🙂
