Hey everyone!   My name is Stephen Lepke and I am going to be one of your trip leaders this summer!  I’m super pumped and can’t wait to meet you all.  God is so good and it is such a privilege to get to spend 2 months with you in Kenya.  I have a huge heart for missions and love traveling internationally to spread the Good News of our God!  I’ve been on a few missions trips that have radically changed my view towards God and His heart for the nations.  These two pictures are from some of my trips inclding: Thailand (doing the traditional greeting of the Thai people-on left) and of Austria (below).

So a little about myself.  I am graduating with my BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Colorado in May 2009 (3 weeks from today!).  I plan on going back to school to get my Masters of Science in Renewable Energy.  So I’ll be in school a little longer, but I totally love it!
I am a born and raised Coloradan who loves to ski, hike, play frisbee and run!  My mom put me on the slopes when I was 3 years old and I’m still skiing today.  Although, I did switch to teli-skiing in college to keep the sport exciting.  Teli-skiing and downhill skiing are the same thing except your heal isn’t connected to the ski…. so pretty much you are doing lunges down a hill… with two waxed pieces of wood strapped to your toes…. its a blast!  My mom also skiis, my brother snowboards, and my step-dad went into early retirement of the sport :).  Other than that, I love to run and am hoping to start training for either a half or a full marathon.  However, I can never get motivated enough to train for it seriously and all of my friends think I’m crazy for wanting to do it. So hopefully when we get back from Kenya I’ll be inspired to finally do it and find some peopel to do it with me!

I’ve also doing a lot of other fun things.  For one, I’m a big music fan
a
and love listening to different kinds.  I used to play trumpet back in HS, but right now I mostly
play accoustic and bass guitar and sing in a choir at my school.   My favorite bands are currently Relient K, Switchfoot, Hillsong and Skillet.  However my tastes are always changing and I’m always up for listening to new things!

I also thought of a few suggestions that might help you in preparation for the trip.  The first would be to start journaling right now where you are in life and start preparing your heart for ministering in Kenya.  The second would be to be pray for the trip.  Pray for the unity of our team, pray for the people of Kenya, and most of all pray for a moldable heart so that God can use you in any way He wants to this summer.

I’m so excited to meet you all soon and can’t wait to walk with you on our trip to Kenya.  I’ll try to answer your questions and get you updated information as soon as I get it.  Until then, keep checking up on the blog (I’ll be posting most info here).  Have a great day!
